你可以說miss the string。

例如

Miss the string for the tied note, but do not alter the picking pattern
of the other note.

這個即是在刷法上也可以這樣用，例如

..keep the strumming motion going in the picking hand, but slightly lift
the hand away from the body of the guitar momentarily, so the pick misses
the strings...
