Cryoglobulinemia is a condition that can affect blood vessels throughout the
body. This condition is caused by the presence of abnormal proteins in the
blood called cryoglobulins. These abnormal proteins become solid in cold
temperatures and block blood flow. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing,
tiredness, glomerulonephritis, joint and muscle pain, purpura, Raynaud's
phenomenon, skin ulcers, and skin death.
Raynaud’s phenomenon is a condition in which cold temperatures or strong
emotions cause blood vessel spasms that block blood flow to the fingers,
toes, ears, and nose.
